Tic-Tac-Toe, is easy and fun. I bet we all have played it. It has been a part of our childhood. Also called Noughts and Crosses or Os/“X'y O'sies” (Ireland), this game has been here forever. Its history can be traced back to Egypt, some 3000 years back. It looks simple but it isn't. It is the first step towards puzzle solving and even today, it is used to teach kids with problem solving aptitude and analytic techniques. All that we need is nine points, three horizontal lines, three vertical lines, and two diagonal lines, each line consisting of at least three points. The one who gets three 'X' or 'O' in a row, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally wins the game.
Have you tried making the game with things at your disposal?
We all must have made this 'easy to play' game, atleast a 100 times with pen and paper. But this time I tried making a permanent setup and little differently. Instead of the traditional X’s and O’s, I wanted something which could be carried from room to room. I used some of the things easily available in my house like cardboard, ice creams sticks, jute, acrylic colors and bottle caps. This is a lovely upcycling project that you can try in multiple ways.
Acrylic colours are my favorite. I love the fact that they can be used on all surfaces.
I painted it with Warli art to give it a unique look.
How did I make it?
I think the picture is self-explanatory but I will still guide.
Cut a piece of cardboard, of the size that is easy to carry.
Use ice-cream sticks to make its border.
Draw the two horizontal and vertical lines with the help of jute.
Paint it with acrylic colors or water colours.
Use plastic bottle caps to make the 'X' and 'O'.
Warli art is my personal favourite. I like to use the motifs in most of the places. You can paint whatever you want. If you are painting with kids, you could try things that they like. Keep a variety of brush sizes for them.
